Welsh Tech Leader Mark Sweeny Named ‘One to Watch’ in LDC’s Top 50 for 2025
Mark Sweeny, Founder and Group Chief Executive of de Novo Solutions, has been named as ‘One to Watch’ in the 2025 edition of the LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders.
Now in its eighth year, the programme (run by LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group, in partnership with The Times) celebrates the entrepreneurs and business leaders shaping the future of the UK economy. This year’s competition attracted almost 700 nominations, with Mark recognised among the most promising leaders making exceptional strides in business growth and innovation.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Newport, South Wales, de Novo Solutions has rapidly become a force in the UK’s digital transformation landscape. Under Mark’s leadership, the company delivers cutting-edge Oracle Cloud and ServiceNow solutions to public sector bodies and private enterprises alike, helping to modernise key business functions such as finance, HR, procurement, and payroll.
In just four years, de Novo has scaled into a multi-million-pound, multi-award-winning enterprise with more than 115 employees spanning the UK and India. The business continues to make headlines, having been ranked 8th in The Sunday Times 100 list of Britain’s fastest-growing private companies earlier this year.
Mark Sweeny said:
“Being recognised as a One to Watch means everything—not because of what I’ve built, but because of who built it with me. Four years ago, de Novo was an idea. Today, it’s 115 people across three countries who show up every day to do something genuinely difficult: help organisations transform the way they work. This recognition from LDC and The Times reflects their talent, their resilience, and their belief that we could create something different in this industry.”
It is a proud moment for the Fintech Wales member community to see one of our own recognised in such a prestigious national programme. Mark’s recognition reflects not only his entrepreneurial drive but also the strength of Welsh-born innovation on the UK stage.
