About Us

As the leading advocate for FinTech in Wales, we are dedicated to empowering FinTech companies and financial services within the region to achieve remarkable success. Through our unwavering commitment, comprehensive support, and strategic initiatives, we will pave the way for a prosperous future. It is our vision is to make Wales THE place to start up, scale up and accelerate innovative FinTech businesses.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a fully inclusive and supportive FinTech ecosystem in Wales that empowers FinTechs to flourish and make a significant impact on both the global and local stage thanks to the availability of the best talent, skills and investment.

How FinTech Wales Began

FinTech Wales launched in April 2019 by Richard Theo, the HM Treasury’s FinTech Envoy for Wales. Richard is a successful entrepreneur who has founded many leading FinTech businesses in Wales.

The idea behind FinTech Wales is to provide an independent voice for the FinTech industry, both within Wales and beyond, which will help to champion and maximise the potential for all businesses in this sector.

As well as nurturing and supporting those businesses already in Wales, we aim to develop an ecosystem that will help new FinTech companies start-up or scale-up. Ultimately, the goal is to make Wales a leading pillar in the global FinTech community.

Since 2019 FinTech Wales’ mission and our members have grown significantly.  From startups to scaling and enterprise organisations, with a number of potential unicorns, Wales has so much to offer anyone looking to start or scale their business.
