Welsh Government Seeks Views on Local Growth Fund Investment Plan

The Welsh Government has launched a public consultation on its proposed approach to the new UK Local Growth Fund in Wales; offering businesses, communities and organisations across the country, including members of the Fintech Wales ecosystem, a vital opportunity to help shape how investment will be delivered between 2026 and 2029.

The consultation, open until 19 December 2025, is a key part of the development of a three-year investment plan for the fund, which will be supported by the UK Government.

The proposals set out a strategic vision for economic development in Wales through the Local Growth Fund, covering:

  • The overarching principles behind the fund’s design
  • Core priorities and objectives for investment
  • Delivery mechanisms and funding approaches

To support the consultation process, the Welsh Government hosted four online regional events across North, Mid, South-west and South-east Wales in November.

Stakeholders can still contribute their views by responding via an online form, email, or post. Full details and all consultation documents are available on the official Welsh Government consultation page.

This consultation represents a unique opportunity for the Welsh fintech sector to help shape a growth fund that could support innovation, infrastructure and economic resilience across the country. With just ten days remaining to respond, Fintech Wales encourages all members, particularly those involved in innovation, regional development or scaling fintech enterprises, to have their say on the future of local growth and economic planning across the nation.
