Welsh Fintechs Burbank and Zero Named Among UK’s Top 100 Startups for 2026

Two Welsh fintech companies, Burbank and Zero Fintech, have been recognised among the UK’s most promising emerging businesses in the prestigious Startups 100 Index 2026.

Now in its 18th year, the Startups 100 Index—compiled by Startups.co.uk and supported by Sage—celebrates innovative young companies showing exceptional promise across five key criteria: finance, external validation, size of opportunity, innovativeness of idea, and strength of concept.

Burbank Wins Tech Award for Groundbreaking CPoI® Technology

Burbank, founded in 2021 and based in Wales, was ranked in the top 10 of the Index and won the inaugural Startups 100 Tech Award for its pioneering payment technology, CPoI®.

CPoI® (Card Present over Internet) enables the trusted tap and PIN experience to be used in online channels for the first time, offering merchants reduced fraud, fewer false positives, and a more seamless checkout experience for customers.

Zero Fintech Celebrated for Sustainable Money App

Zero Fintech, launched in early 2025, is a sustainable money app helping users reduce their carbon footprint through environmentally conscious financial decisions. Since launch, the app has grown to over 20,000 registered users, reflecting a strong appetite for green financial tools among climate-conscious consumers.
