Welsh Fintech Zero Launches Carbon Projects to Help Users Offset Their Environmental Footprint

Published by Fintech Wales

Cardiff-based B Corp and sustainable money app, Zero, has launched a new feature—Zero Carbon Projects—enabling users to offset their carbon footprint through verified carbon removal initiatives, all within the Zero app and without the need for a subscription.

The feature connects with Zero’s proprietary GreenScore® system, giving users insight into the environmental impact of their spending and lifestyle. Every contribution to a carbon removal project increases their GreenScore®, offering a measurable way to track progress.

Through a partnership with UK-based platform Lune, Zero users can access a curated selection of carbon removal projects—from reforestation to sustainable concrete production—selected for their real-world impact. Each project is verified by leading standards bodies such as Verra, Puro, and Gold Standard.

Unlike many offsetting services, Zero Carbon Projects does not require users to sign up for a monthly subscription. Instead, users can make one-off contributions whenever they choose—making it easier and more accessible to support global climate solutions.

All projects offered through Zero Carbon Projects are personally selected by the company’s Chief Sustainability Officer, ensuring both environmental integrity and user trust.

“With Zero Carbon Projects, we’re making it easy for people to take climate action in a way that’s transparent, affordable and immediate,” said Richard Theo, co-founder and CEO of Zero. “You don’t need a subscription, and you don’t need to change your lifestyle overnight. Every contribution helps, and this feature gives our community the power to make a difference one step at a time.”

This launch forms part of Zero’s growing suite of planet-first finance tools, shaped in collaboration with its user community—who will collectively own 20% of the future value of the company. For Zero, sustainability is not a bolt-on; it’s built into every layer of the app’s design and roadmap.
