Wales Innovation Network (WIN)
has unveiled a groundbreaking programme designed to foster closer ties between Welsh and Irish universities, creating a powerful platform for impactful research and development.
Launched in December, this new programme offers grants of up to €60,000 to eligible research teams. The funding is split equally, with 50% provided by Research Ireland and the remaining 50% supported by WIN through a Welsh Government innovation grant.
To qualify, projects must be joint applications co-led by researchers from both Wales and Ireland. The initiative aims to harness the complementary strengths of Welsh and Irish institutions, paving the way for transformative research with far-reaching benefits.
This programme represents a significant step in strengthening academic collaboration across borders, aligning with WIN’s mission to facilitate partnerships and support groundbreaking research among universities.
For the fintech sector and the broader business community in Wales, this programme provides an excellent opportunity to engage with academia, leveraging innovative research to drive industry growth and development. As WIN broadens its reach, greater collaboration between academia and industry could unlock new possibilities for technological advancement and economic progress.
