ThinkEDI Secures Funding from Development Bank of Wales to Advance Workplace Diversity & Inclusion

ThinkEDI, a new app designed to track and improve diversity and inclusion (D&I) data, has received funding support from the Development Bank of Wales. Co-founded by Sophie Mason and Merryn Roberts-Ward, ThinkEDI aims to simplify D&I data management for organisations, enabling them to make strategic, measurable decisions while keeping people at the heart of their approach.

A Digital-First Solution for Diversity & Inclusion

The ThinkEDI App helps businesses collate, measure, and track diversity and inclusion data, making it easier for employers to ensure compliance and create inclusive environments. Developed by Cardiff-based WeGetDesign, the app provides a data-driven approach to tackling workplace discrimination.

As members of Fintech Wales, ThinkEDI operates from Welsh ICE in Caerphilly Business Park.

“The UK economy spends £127 billion on discrimination claims each year—that’s approximately £3,800 per person in employment. Training and coaching only go so far, and mistakes in compliance can be costly.

As an ambulatory wheelchair user and HR change management professional, I understand workplace barriers from both an employee and employer perspective. The ThinkEDI app will bring organisations financial and social returns on investment.”

Support from the Development Bank of Wales

The Development Bank of Wales has supported ThinkEDI with a micro loan from the £500 million Wales Flexible Investment Fund. This fund, backed by Welsh Government, provides loans, mezzanine finance, and equity investments ranging from £25,000 to £10 million, with terms of up to 15 years.

“As champions of inclusivity, Sophie and Merryn are a real force. They have developed an innovative digital tool that simplifies the management of equality data. Their story really is one of dedication, resilience, and resolve—breaking barriers and setting new standards. It’s a privilege to be supporting them.”

– Claire Vokes, Senior Investment Executive, Development Bank of Wales

With funding in place, ThinkEDI is set to roll out new features and tools, reinforcing its mission to make workplaces more inclusive, data-driven, and forward-thinking.
