A new chapter for FinTech Wales

It’s official, South Wales has been recognised as an emerging FinTech Cluster in the UK*. This is something we should be fiercely proud of.

It is now FinTech Wales’ job to protect this position and also to make sure Wales grows and develops to become a globally recognised FinTech Centre of Excellence.

As an organisation, we need to work across the whole of Wales to establish an ecosystem which supports start up entrepreneurs through to FTSE 100 companies, as well as seeking out key players who will represent Wales on the global FinTech stage.

A key part of this is also making sure that we are creating the right environment for these exciting businesses, ensuring we have the talent, investment and community support needed to allow them to grow and expand. Whilst FinTech Wales has already done much to nurture and support Welsh FinTechs, we are still developing our vision and challenging ourselves to compete in the worldwide FinTech community – we are just at the beginning of our journey.

Last week, our Founder and Chairman Richard Theo stepped down – a big change for us. FinTech Wales would not be here without Richard’s tireless commitment, energy, vision and foresight in creating this organisation. His hard work and dedication has been instrumental in getting the FinTech Wales panel to where it is today – Thank You Richard. We are totally committed to ensuring that his legacy will be maintained as we continue forward in our development.

And so, as we move onto our next chapter, we are looking to recruit two new Directors to join our Executive Committee and will also be electing a new Chair.

So, if you are a successful Tech or FinTech entrepreneur, with a demonstrated passion for Wales and a desire to give back to the Welsh business community, please approach a member of our panel or our CEO Sarah to learn more.
