The End of FinTech Wales’ Second Year
18 October, 2021
We are now at the end of our Second business year, and what a busy and productive year it’s been for us.
We have achieved so many feats within the last 12 months, from expanding our membership, supporting initiatives for future skills, and the inception and launch of the inaugural FinTech Wales Foundry Accelerator Programme (which you can read about here), to name just a few.
The business year 2020/2021 also saw the strengthening of the FinTech Wales team. Following the appointment of FinTech Wales’ first CEO, Sarah Williams-Gardener, back in November 2020, this past year has also seen the addition of two new board members, entrepreneur and angel investor, Eamon Tuhami, and Principality Building Society’s Head of Strategy, Ben Joakim, all of whom have been instrumental in moving the company closer to its objectives.
Our AGM (Annual General Meeting), which took place on Tuesday the 12th of October, saw the appointment of Confused.com CEO, Louise O’Shea, as FinTech Wales Chair, as well as new panel members: Sonovate Founder, Damon Chapple; Wagonex’s CMO, Ella Hastings; Acquis CMO, James Rudolf; and LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ Senior Marketing Director, Sarah McQuaid.
We would like to thank all who have supported FinTech Wales this past year—the mentors, investors, Government and University representatives, and beyond—who, without your continued passion and support for our growing ecosystem, our achievements this year would not have been possible.
Having developed our strategy going forward, we can confidently look to the next stage of our journey and what the coming year holds for FinTech Wales as we continue our mission to establish Wales as a globally recognised FinTech hub of excellence.
