Technology in manufacturing consultation

This is a consultation on behalf of the Welsh Government and Ken Skates Minister for Economy and Transport to help define a framework that will protect and grow the manufacturing sector over the next 10 plus years.
Manufacturing is at the heart of the Welsh economy and is pivotal to our economic prosperity. The framework will allow us to map and plan the best route for the sector and the support and interaction with public/private entities including the Welsh Government.
Technology is playing an ever increasingly important part of the manufacturing story, with opportunities for Welsh technology companies and academia to support, enable, partner and supply the manufacturing sector. This consultation workshop will look to identify those elements, drivers and blockers that define both risks and opportunities for the marriage of technology to the manufacturing sector.
We are looking to engage all technology stakeholders in Wales, including our more value adding clusters of FinTech, Cyber and AI.

- Identify market disruptors that will create opportunities for tech usage in manufacturing
- Identify process disruptors that will create opportunities for tech usage in manufacturing
- Identify technology disruptors that will create opportunities for application in manufacturing
- Identify blockers to progression of technology usage within manufacturing
- Identify tech areas which are likely to have better returns on investment
The output of this workshop will be a set of recommendations and roadmap of opportunities showing dependencies with enabling and enabled factors, to steer where Welsh Government (and other) support will be focussed for the success of Welsh Manufacturing.
