Socura named among UK’s Best Workplaces in 2026 rankings
FinTech Wales member and cyber security provider Socura has been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for 2026, highlighting the strength of workplace culture emerging from Wales’ growing cyber and fintech ecosystem.
The company, which delivers managed cyber security services to organisations including NHS trusts, local authorities and private sector businesses, was ranked 59th in the UK’s small workplace category at this year’s Great Place To Work Best Workplaces Awards.
The annual rankings recognise organisations that demonstrate exceptional workplace culture, based on detailed employee feedback and independent culture audits.
For Socura, the recognition reflects strong internal engagement across the company. In an anonymous employee survey conducted as part of the evaluation process, 97% of employees said Socura is a great place to work, significantly higher than the UK average. Staff also reported particularly strong levels of trust, pride and camaraderie, with all respondents agreeing they can be themselves at work and that colleagues care for one another.
Socura CEO Andrew Kays said:
“While cyber security is one of the UK’s fastest-growing sectors, it is also notorious for high stress and burnout. This is why employee experience and fostering a culture where our people can thrive is so important. Being recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces is an incredibly proud moment for all of us.”
Operating as a remote-first business, Socura says its model allows the company to recruit and retain cyber security talent from across the UK, helping to address regional disparities in the availability of skilled professionals.
The company recently analysed Office for National Statistics data, which indicates that the number of cyber security professionals in the UK has tripled since 2021, although access to talent remains uneven across different regions.
Employees say the company’s culture and focus on professional development play a key role in supporting career progression.
Kealey Hughes, Cybersecurity Engineer at Socura, described the supportive environment she has experienced since joining the company:
“I’ve had such a positive experience since joining the team at Socura. Even though we work remotely, the culture is incredibly welcoming with a genuine sense of community. The team has been instrumental in my progression, supporting me through my transition from Infrastructure Engineering into Cyber Security Engineering. It’s a caring, brilliant environment for growth where you’re encouraged to learn from some of the best minds in the industry while being given the training to truly thrive.”
Across all award categories, 350 organisations were recognised in the 2026 UK’s Best Workplaces List. Socura was one of eight Welsh-headquartered companies included and one of only two dedicated managed cyber security service providers to appear in the rankings.
Great Place To Work compiles the list through analysis of employee survey responses alongside culture audits submitted by company leadership teams. The evaluation benchmarks organisations on how effectively their workplace culture aligns with the experience reported by employees.
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work UK, said the organisations recognised this year demonstrated consistently strong workplace environments:
“The UK’s Best Workplaces excel in creating consistently great experiences for all employees through fostering high levels of trust, pride and camaraderie to fuel increased organisational performance.
These crucial elements collectively contribute to creating cultures where employees feel they can truly be themselves and thrive in a supportive and caring environment. Congratulations to Socura for achieving a place on our 2026 UK’s Best Workplaces List.”
