Sero are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help them expand and optimise their data estate and build a greenfield Data Lake, Sero are looking for someone who is passionate about data and technology.  This role will support the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products, taking the opportunity to build upon the current data architecture to support the next generation of products and initiatives.

What Sero will be asking you to do: 

Bring your experience in Data Lake, Datamart and Data Warehouse development to help Sero on their data journey. Using your experience as a Data Engineer Sero  will be looking for you to optimise their existing data systems and build out new systems from the ground up ingesting data from multiple data streams. The Data Engineering team will support Sero’s Software Engineers, Architects, Analysts and Data Scientists on multiple initiatives to ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.  

 You will help support the creation and maintenance of multiple data pipelines and operational data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements. 

Sero  will be asking you to contribute to the building of the infrastructure needed for optimal transformation and loading of data from a vast range of data sources including but not limited to IoT services and multiple ETL ingestions using GCP technologies.

To be successful in the job straight away you will need:

  •  Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of data modelling & data transformation
  •  Exposure to configuring GCP network and security infrastructure
  •  Participation in developing GCP IaC using terraform
  •  An understanding of DevOps software delivery and CI/CD processes, especially on GitLab [or similar]
  •  Experience with SQL, Apache Beam/GCP DataFlow, Go or Python
  •  Experience with ETL tools
  •  Awareness of integrating/interfacing with REST/GQL APIs
  •  Exposure to GCP cataloguing or GCP Dataplex
  •  Experience with GCP Workflows
  •  Experience with reading and understanding high-level technical designs
  •  Working in an Agile/Kanban environment

Acquis is looking for an underwriter who can reinforce the technical capabilities of the Product & Underwriting team and whose underwriting and insurance sector experience can contribute towards realising Acquis’ ambitious growth strategy. Key Accountabilities:

  • Partner effectively with the Commercial function to secure Acquis’ financial objectives: translating requirements into proposals and supporting Sales in converting prospects into clients
  • Contribute towards executing the underwriting strategy for each of Acquis’ products: increasing revenue whilst ensuring that underwriting profitability is maintained
  • Assess and, where necessary, escalate non-standard underwriting proposals in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with Partnerships to ensure that all insurer documentation is duly maintained, and that any Product documentation is created, issued and verified in accordance with KPIs
  • Provide expert guidance on all aspects of Product engineering to clients, prospects, partners, and the wider business
  • Support the Head of Product & Underwriting and collaborate with commercial, technical and operational business units to identify, research and evaluate opportunities to develop new and existing products
  • Support the implementation and development of technical and operational mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of Product & Underwriting and the wider business
  • Work closely with all departments to contribute towards the execution of corporate and departmental objectives and projects.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Experience in underwriting, preferably in the UK or EU general insurance market
  • Technical mindset with an analytical approach to problem solving and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively identify, assess and challenge risk
  • Proficiency in data interrogation, analysis and presentation
  • Strong numerical reasoning skills are essential
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to evaluate technical wording, e.g., policy clauses and conditions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the capability to prioritise a dynamic workload of tasks/requests appropriately
  • Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Experience within Data Analytics and/or Credit Risk Modelling
  • Advanced in Python, SQL, Github, Docker and AWS Sagemaker
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to question, shape, analyse, understand and explain to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
