The Opportunity

Sonovate are looking for a talented Credit Controller to play an important role, ensuring that money that is owed is collected within the agreed time frames, minimising the risk of non-payment and aged debt. You will do this by building and maintaining efficient and professional relationships with your stakeholders. You will need to be naturally proactive and super organised from the get-go.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and be responsible for own ledger of a minimum 300 end debtors, of mid to low complexity
  • Develop commercial relationships with the customer base and internal stakeholders

  • Escalate issues via the appropriate channels and relevant applications (e.g CRM)
  • Managing invoice disputes and orchestrating relevant corrections

  • Management of own CRM tickets and personal emails
  • Pro-actively monitor insured limits with customer base, and highlighting any concerns to the business

What you will be doing  

As a qualified Accountant with relevant experience gained within financial services you will lead a  team, across two sites, and will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting records and the processes and controls, we adhere to.

Ensuring that your team meets the Group reporting, regulatory reporting, statutory accounts and taxation deadlines whilst providing support on technical accounting items. You will be passionate about developing and motivating your team to deliver highly detailed and quality results.

This is a critical role within our Finance department and so your knowledge and skillset will reflect the experience we need.

Working to FCA deadlines, delivering statutory accounts for group companies and managing to FCA deadlines you will be able to prepare and present relevant reports and associated materials to stakeholders including audit committee and take ownership for developing and enhancing these as required.

As part of your new role you will also be responsible for:

  • The production of management accounts and group reporting requirements
  • The production of statutory accounts for group companies including Consolidated accounts (under IFRS)
  • Direct management of the FC team across two sites to ensure timely and accurate delivery of month end close process, management accounts, group reporting requirements, vendor payments, bank reconciliations, VAT deliverables, balance sheet substantiation and reporting and support for payroll processing
  • Management of the tax relationships and deliverables and the wider tax considerations for UK Lending, including liaison with tax advisers and the Pepper Group tax team
  • Ensuring the day-to-day audit activity is robustly managed and controlled, together with timelines on preparation and audit of the statutory accounts.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of regulatory returns including MLAR.
  • Supporting FP&A for group reporting and liaising with our Group team based in Australia.
  • Documentation and testing of financial controls and reporting on such to the Audit Committee
  • Being the technical contact for accounting queries and producing technical accounting papers.
  • Testing and evaluation of critical accounting estimates e.g., IFRS9 impairment provisions, effective interest rate, hedge accounting, fair value assessments of loan portfolios, accounting derecognition of loan portfolios
  • Involvement in new product and initiatives
  • Owning the accounting Policies and creating or updating them as required.
