Principality Building Society has announced an exciting three-year partnership with The Prince’s Trust, the UK’s leading youth charity. The partnership is aimed at helping underrepresented young people across Wales develop essential employability and life skills, with a focus on Cardiff, Swansea, Port Talbot, Neath, and Wrexham.

The Prince’s Trust offers a variety of programmes, resources, and support to help young people gain the skills they need to step onto the career ladder. One of their flagship initiatives, the ‘Get Into’ programme, is delivered in collaboration with employers and training providers to offer young people aged 16-30 the chance to develop industry-specific skills, gain work experience, and earn certifications across sectors like technology, healthcare, logistics, hospitality, and retail.

Through this partnership, Principality Building Society has become a Patron of The Prince’s Trust, helping to fund education and engagement initiatives that make young people across Wales ‘work ready.’

Tony Smith, Chief Impact and Governance Officer at Principality Building Society, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership:

“We’re passionate about ensuring all young people are able to reach their full potential both personally and professionally. We want future generations to feel hopeful, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals, finding their sense of purpose in work that they love doing and ultimately contributing towards building stronger communities. Our focus is on improving social mobility through employability, and we’re honoured to be working with The Prince’s Trust to help young people get started on their career pathway and support them on the journey to a job.”

Principality has already made an impact by funding a 10-day ‘Get Into’ Green Construction pilot programme, which focused on the growing need for sustainable building skills. The programme saw 21 young people receive their CSCS card, the leading skills certification in the UK construction industry.

Sarah Jones, Director of Delivery in Wales at The Prince’s Trust, welcomed the partnership:

“We are so grateful to have an organisation’s support whose values align so closely with our own. Our objective has always been to help young people succeed—whether that’s gaining self-confidence or getting them into sustainable work—and combating employment challenges. With Principality’s support, we are confident that our programmes will continue to make a difference in young people’s lives across Wales.”

This partnership will play a crucial role in addressing the challenges young people face when entering the workforce, providing them with the tools they need to succeed and contribute to stronger communities across Wales.
