Principality Building Society and OneBanx Launch First-of-its-Kind Cash Access Kiosk in North Wales

Principality Building Society, in partnership with OneBanx, has officially opened a pioneering new kiosk in Buckley Library, marking a major milestone in improving access to cash on Welsh high streets.

This is the first OneBanx kiosk of its kind to launch in North Wales, offering residents a modern, convenient solution for everyday banking services. The facility enables customers to deposit and withdraw cash, supporting accounts from most major UK banks and building societies.

Friday’s launch event saw strong community support, with local residents attending alongside elected representatives including Jack Sargeant MS, and representatives from Flintshire County Council. Key figures from Principality, including CEO Julie-Ann Haines, joined the celebration, reinforcing the Society’s commitment to community-driven banking solutions.

“Fantastic to see us open in Buckley!!” commented Julie-Ann Haines on LinkedIn.

The kiosk forms part of a wider effort to address the growing concern over high street bank closures and reduced access to financial services in local communities. By situating the service within a well-used public space and integrating multi-bank functionality, the collaboration demonstrates a practical and inclusive approach to maintaining essential banking access.

Kelly Young, Head of Customer Services Savings at Principality, said, “I am so proud of the PBS team who have enabled us to open up our first ‘Mini Branch’ which will support and serve the people of Buckley. Another important step in the conversation on ‘Access to Cash’ in our Welsh communities.”

OneBanx also praised the collaboration: “Sharing key infrastructure in local communities is innovative, cost-effective and most importantly – committed. We’re delighted to keep supporting your strategy to deliver key financial services to keep towns thriving.”

Alun Parker, Regional Manager at Principality, added: “So proud of everyone involved in this which further demonstrates our commitment to the High Street and Access to Cash.”

This launch highlights a successful and scalable example of how fintech partnerships can sustain essential services in underserved areas while helping to revitalise local high streets.
