Monmouthshire Building Society Launches ‘The Balanced Broker Series’ to Prioritise Wellbeing in the Industry

Monmouthshire Building Society, a proud Fintech Wales member, has launched an exciting new wellbeing initiative tailored specifically for brokers and intermediaries. The Balanced Broker Series, spearheaded by Claire Graham, Business Development Manager, is a first-of-its-kind event designed to support brokers’ mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

A Wellbeing Initiative Inspired by First-Hand Experience

Claire Graham, the driving force behind the initiative, understands the pressures brokers face all too well. Having worked as a broker for a decade before transitioning into her current BDM role, she experienced burnout, stress, and the challenges of maintaining work-life balance.

“I wanted to put words into action and create something that educates and improves brokers’ physical, mental, and emotional health. Having been in their shoes, I know how tough it can be—long hours, high-pressure decisions, and little time to focus on wellbeing. This series is about changing that.” — Claire Graham

The Balanced Broker Series is set to be a monthly event hosted at Monmouthshire Building Society’s Queen Street branch in Cardiff. Each session will bring together four BDMs and 20 brokers, offering industry updates alongside a wellbeing-focused guest speaker.

Launch Event on February 11th

The first event in the series, taking place on February 11th, will feature guest speaker Samantha Marshall, a life and relationship coach. Her session will cover:

  • The four pillars of health and wellbeing
  • Understanding good vs. bad stress and its impact on the body
  • The mind-body connection and practical stress management techniques
  • How to sustain positive habit changes

Alongside these valuable insights, the event will include healthy, nutritious catering from Earthly Caterers, offering all-natural, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free options to promote better energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

Why Wellbeing Matters for Brokers

Brokers often work long hours under immense pressure, particularly when dealing with sudden mortgage rate changes and high client expectations.

“There are so many talented advisors out there who may be struggling with stress and burnout, just as I did. Some might have already left the industry because of it. That’s why we need to change the conversation around wellbeing and provide real, tangible support.” — Claire Graham

Beyond these events, Monmouthshire Building Society is committed to helping brokers manage their workloads more effectively, offering dedicated support teams and time-saving insights in its BDM presentations.

A Long-Term Commitment to Broker Wellbeing

The Balanced Broker Series is not a one-off initiative—Monmouthshire Building Society has already lined up guest speakers for the next six events, covering crucial topics such as:

  • Burnout and stress management
  • Time management and productivity
  • Workplace relationships and emotional wellbeing
  • Menopause and women in business
  • Parenthood and work-life balance
  • Men’s mental health

“I hope brokers will come away from these sessions not only more educated about their wellbeing but also knowing that we truly care about them. They are the backbone of the industry, and they deserve support.” — Claire Graham
