Lloyds Banking Group Announces Move to New Cardiff City Centre Offices

Lloyds Banking Group has unveiled plans to relocate over 3,000 staff to a state-of-the-art office in Cardiff’s John Street, a move showcasing its commitment to the city and its workforce.The banking giant has signed a 10-year lease for the 110,000 sq ft office space in Callaghan Square, with the move scheduled to complete by Q2 2026. The new office will consolidate staff currently based at St. William House in Cardiff and other local sites, including Newport, without impacting current roles.

Designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, the John Street office reflects Lloyds’ focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The facilities include:

  • A free-to-use fitness space
  • An on-site café
  • Accessible speed gates
  • A sensory map to enhance accessibility

These features aim to promote employee wellbeing and attract top talent to the region.

This relocation marks the largest office letting deal in Wales since the Covid-19 pandemic. Chartered surveyor Chris Sutton emphasized the importance of Grade A office space like John Street in retaining major investments:

The development, overseen by JR Smart, is expected to complete in September 2024, with Lloyds beginning its fit-out soon after.
