“Show Her the Money” Aims to Demystify the World of Venture Capital and Address Why Women Get Only 2% of Available Venture Capital Funding.

The screening will take place on Monday 20th May at the University of South Wales, Cardiff.

Globally, female founders receive around just 2% of all VC funding despite evidence that women-owned firms outperform those owned by men. FinTech Wales, the independent membership association championing the fintech and financial services industries in Wales, is working with partners to change this situation through initiatives like this screening of “Show Her the Money”. The film aims to raise awareness of the importance of breaking down gender barriers in the business world, and emphasise the need for equal opportunities and recognition.

Sarah Kocianski, CEO of FinTech Wales, commented, “Ensuring equality of access to VC funding for all founders is a cause close to my heart for a number of reasons, not least that it’s vital to ensuring maximum economic growth. I’m delighted we are supporting the premier of “Show Her the Money” in Wales and look forward to the discussions it will spark.”

“Show Her the Money”, produced and executive produced by Catherine Gray and directed by Ky Dickens, takes audiences on an emotional journey through the lives of resilient and visionary women who have defied societal norms, shattered glass ceilings, and overcome obstacles to build their businesses. It follows four visionary entrepreneurs as they endure uphill battles to turn their ideas into reality. “Show Her the Money” is not just a film; it’s a call to action, urging the world to recognise and support the incredible potential of women-led enterprises.

“For the first time in history, women are starting their own venture capital funds, and we are on a mission to educate women about why we need more women investors to support these funds,” states Gray.

The one-night only private screening will be followed by a Q&A hosted by FinTech Wales’ CEO, Sarah Kocianski, with a panel featuring “Show Her the Money” Producers and Cast Members, Catherine Gray,  Wendy Ryan and Azin Radsan van Alebeek, Female Founder and International Coach, Andrea Callanan, Co-Founder and CEO of Mazuma, Lucy Cohen and Carol Hall, Investment Manager from Development Bank of Wales.

“Show Her the Money” is on a 50-city global tour sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, with FinTech Wales hosting the only Cardiff screening with event partners University of South Wales, British Business Bank, the Development Bank of Wales and Blake Morgan.
