FinTech Wales Foundry: Fourth Accelerator Programme Concludes with Inspiring Demo Day
The fourth FinTech Wales accelerator programme came to a close with an exciting Demo Day held on 9th October at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre.
The FinTech Wales Foundry provides mentorship and support to help startups within the Welsh fintech ecosystem and beyond, led by Foundry Programme Director Lucy Bulley and supported by the wider FinTech Wales community.
This year’s Foundry ran from May to October 2025, featuring two in-person days per module packed with expert workshops, mentoring sessions, fireside chats and networking events.
The Demo Day offered the chance for the nine members of the Foundry to deliver a five-minute pitch, followed by a short question and answer session led by Sarah Williams-Gardener, Chair of FinTech Wales, Gareth Berry, Inward Investment Manager, Cardiff Capital Region and Foundry Alumni, Julian Mensah, CEO and founder of Newport-based fintech startup Voltric.
The 2025 Foundry cohort showcased a diverse range of innovation and ideas transforming the future of finance:
- Cavefish – the company using AI to make emotions measurable for brands.
- Colfi – the technology aiming to automate collateral management processes, providing real-time pricing and execution.
- Zugo! – a wealth and asset management platform using AI to bridge the advice gap.
- Capitawise – a platform delivering real-time insights from across organisations, centralising financial data, automating workflows and delivering real-time insights.
- Chest – the pension app for Millennials and Gen Z, allowing them to earn cashback and add it to their pension pot.
- Cloudbank.digital – a cloud-based banking ecosystem that provides financial institutions with a comprehensive set of tools for managing banking operations.
- Banxlocal – bringing digital innovation back to the high street, giving people access to multiple banks, building societies and financial services from a single location.
- Simplifyer – a platform that pays Gen‑Z users for uploading receipts and transforms those receipts into data that gives financial clarity to users.
- Humoni – connecting migrants to essential services to support them in their new country, creating pathways to financial freedom and social mobility.
The Demo Day marked the culmination of months of hard work, collaboration and innovation. Each startup demonstrated not only the strength of their ideas but also the value of the Welsh fintech ecosystem in fostering meaningful progress.
This year’s cohort brought together founders from across the world — all united by a shared ambition to scale their operations in Wales and contribute to its thriving fintech community. While the conclusion of the fourth Foundry marks the end of this phase of their journey, it also signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter of growth and expansion.
As FinTech Wales continues to champion innovation and growth, the Foundry remains a cornerstone for developing the next generation of fintech founders.
