FinTech Wales celebrates the first College Merthyr Tydfil FinTech Academy
FinTech Wales recently celebrated the conclusion of the first Y Coleg Merthyr Tudful / The College Merthyr Tydfil FinTech Academy, marking an important milestone in a partnership designed to uncover, inspire and connect hidden talent in the Valleys with the fintech sector.
The Academy has focused on helping learners build confidence, understand the opportunities available within fintech, and develop greater awareness of what they can achieve. Employability and entrepreneurship were two of the key themes throughout the programme, supporting students as they explored future pathways and gained insight into the wider industry.
The celebration recognised the achievements of the students and provided an opportunity to reflect on how the programme can continue to grow and improve next year, with the learner voice playing an important role in the discussion.
We wish the students moving on to new and exciting opportunities the very best of luck. We also hope those embarking on a fintech-themed tour of the USA enjoy every moment, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences.
This partnership is a strong example of what collaboration between industry and education can achieve. Special thanks go to Leanne Jones, Liana James and Hannah, whose passion and enthusiasm have helped make the initiative possible.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, including Monmouthshire Building Society, Barclays, EY and NILC Training, as well as the members of the FinTech Wales ecosystem who joined the celebration and continue to support the Academy.
Those involved included representatives from Small Print Compare, Cavefish, DeepLearn Human Science, Carefin Solutions, Bipsync, NILC Training, Planna Ltd, National Trust, NatWest, Hodge, Sanderson and Identify Solutions.
