FinTech Challenge: Supporting Matthew’s House with Contactless Donations
08 October, 2025
We’re excited to announce a new FinTech Challenge, launching on 23rd October during our Breakfast Event, hosted by Matthew’s House.
Matthew’s House is a community project in the heart of Swansea, known as “a home for those without one”. They provide hospitality, food, and hope to those who need it most, supported entirely through volunteers and public donations.
To continue their vital work supporting those in need in Swansea, Matthew’s House is looking for innovative ways to make giving easier and more accessible. They currently use a colourful donation box placed inside secure premises, but they now want to take this further.
“Our aim is to provide unconditional hospitality for the most vulnerable people in Swansea including those struggling with homelessness, mental health and addictions. Hope can change lives, it can refresh and refocus us and that’s why we try our very best to deliver it. Here are the seven ways we express Hope.”
The Challenge:
Develop a portable and cost-effective contactless payment collection point that can be securely attached to their existing donation box, making it simple for visitors to give digitally as well as with cash.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the Welsh FinTech community to apply creativity and technology to solve a real-world challenge that will have a direct social impact.
We’ll officially launch the challenge at the Breakfast Event on 23rd October with the team from Matthew’s House, and we can’t wait to see how our ecosystem responds to support this incredible cause.
