Financial Education Charity MyBnk Officially Expands to Wales with Launch Event

MyBnk, the UK’s leading financial education charity, is officially launching its work in Wales with a special event at Cardiff and Vale College. This milestone marks nearly a year since MyBnk began delivering its high-impact financial education programmes to young people across Wales.

The event, running from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, will highlight the charity’s successes in its first year in Wales and explore opportunities for further collaboration in delivering essential financial literacy programmes.

Championing Financial Education in the Digital Age

As part of Global Money Week 2025, the event will feature a panel discussion at 2:00pm titled “Think Before You Follow – Decoding Financial Advice in the Digital Age.” The session will focus on equipping young people and adults with the skills to navigate online financial advice safely.

Topics will include:

• The evolving landscape of financial education and advice online
• How to identify scams and misleading financial advice
• The psychological triggers behind financial decision-making
• The role of AI and algorithms in shaping financial choices

Leon Ward, CEO of MyBnk, emphasised the importance of this discussion:

Since expanding into Wales, MyBnk has already delivered vital financial education sessions to young people aged 7 to 37, helping them develop the skills to manage money confidently and avoid financial pitfalls.

The launch event is open to educators, policymakers, businesses, and anyone interested in improving financial literacy across Wales. It also offers an opportunity for networking and exploring partnerships to expand financial education initiatives further.
