Finalrentals Expands into Pakistan, Strengthening Global Growth from Cardiff
Cardiff-based global car rental marketplace Finalrentals has officially launched in Pakistan and is now live at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad International Airports.
A member of Fintech Wales and part of Season 2 of The Foundry Accelerator, Finalrentals continues to scale internationally, operating across more than 60 countries worldwide.
For Founder & CEO Ammar Akhtar, the launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s global journey.
Born in Karachi, Akhtar described the moment as “going back in time.”
“From the streets of Karachi to building a global platform serving more than 60 countries, this launch is incredibly emotional for me,” he said. “Finalrentals is now serving Pakistan from our headquarters in Cardiff, and that full-circle journey means everything.”
Building a Global Platform with Local Ownership
The idea for Finalrentals originated from Akhtar’s experience in the global car rental industry, where he saw local and independent operators being overshadowed by multinational brands on major travel platforms. Despite often offering stronger service and deeper local knowledge, smaller operators struggled for visibility.
In response, he built a platform designed to bring local rental companies together under one global brand — one that supports them rather than replaces them.
In its early stages, Akhtar personally spoke with more than 800 car rental owners worldwide, listening to their challenges and sharing a vision of collective growth. Today, that vision has developed into an international network spanning more than 60 countries.
Strategic Partnership in Pakistan
The Pakistan launch has been secured through a partnership with Fast Track Travel & Tours and Fast Track Car Rental, established in 2011 by entrepreneur Ahtsham Ali.
The company serves airlines, NGOs and blue-chip corporate clients across Pakistan and has built a reputation as a leading car rental and mobility provider in the country.
Commenting on the partnership, Ahtsham Ali said:
“This is a very special moment for us, bringing a global car rental brand to Pakistan that was originally created by a Pakistani-origin entrepreneur. We are excited to work with Finalrentals to build a trusted, household name for customers visiting Pakistan from all around the world.”
Fast Track shares Finalrentals’ focus on technology, innovation and globally connected mobility. Together, the two companies aim to modernise the car rental experience in Pakistan while creating a bridge between local expertise and international standards.
Digitising the Travel Experience
For the first time, Pakistanis and Overseas Pakistanis can secure a rental car digitally before boarding their flight. The platform offers advance booking, clear pricing and access to trusted local partners.
“This isn’t just about car rental,” Akhtar added. “It’s about access. Families travel with expectations and tight schedules. Landing in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad knowing your car is already booked changes the whole experience.”
Through Finalrentals, travellers connect with trusted local partners and transparent pricing, while Pakistani rental companies gain global exposure and access to international customers.
As the company continues expanding across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, the Pakistan launch represents another step in strengthening Wales’ position as a hub for fintech-enabled global platforms.
“For me,” Akhtar said, “this is more than a business milestone. It’s proof that you can build something global without losing your roots, and that Pakistan deserves world-class digital travel services.”
