The partnership was inspired by a meeting at FinTech Wales’ inaugural Swansea networking breakfast

Delta by Marriott Swansea has named the Swansea-based charity Matthew’s House as its Charity of the Year.

The partnership was sparked at FinTech Wales’ inaugural Swansea networking breakfast, hosted by Matthew’s House, where Thom Lynch, Project Leader of Matthew’s House, introduced attendees to the charity’s work supporting vulnerable people across the city.

Matthew’s House is a Swansea charitable initiative led by The Hill Church Charity providing practical support to people experiencing homelessness, poverty and social isolation, including hot meals, hygiene packs, showers, laundry advocacy, wellbeing activities and access to essential support networks.

Among those attending the networking breakfast was Rhiannon Boyce-Coles, Multi Property Sales Manager at the hotel. Inspired by the impact of Matthew’s House, she continued the conversation with the charity, which ultimately led to the hotel selecting Matthew’s House as its Charity of the Year.

The partnership shows how connections made through the FinTech Wales network can make a lasting difference to local communities, in this case bringing business and charitable organisations together.

Richard Robbins, General Manager at Delta by Marriott Swansea, said: “As a hotel in the heart of Swansea, we have a responsibility to play an active role in our local community. Matthew’s House makes a tangible difference to people across the city, and we’re delighted to be able to support the charity through our colleagues, guests and wider hotel community.”

Sarah Jones, CEO of FinTech Wales said: “We’re incredibly proud that our very first Swansea networking breakfast created an opportunity for organisations and businesses to connect and collaborate. Our aim was not only to bring businesses together, but also to strengthen community connections, and Matthew’s House is a powerful example of how these connections can make a real impact for people across Swansea.”

“To see Matthew’s House being named Charity of the Year by a local business is exactly the kind of outcome we hoped to achieve. We hope this is just the beginning and that future networking events will continue to create meaningful partnerships that benefit local communities.”

Thom Lynch, Project Leader at Matthew’s House, said: “It’s wonderful to see how a conversation at a FinTech Wales event has grown into such a meaningful partnership. We hope it will help us raise awareness of our work and create new opportunities for fundraising and volunteering. We’re really excited to work with the hotel team over the coming year and to welcome their colleagues into Matthew’s House.”

The year-long partnership will include fundraising, volunteering and events. Planned activities include car washes, the Big Sleep Out on Friday 13 November 2026, and hotel associates volunteering at Matthew’s House.

The partnership will be launched at a FinTech Wales event on 7 October 2026. The hotel will also support Matthew’s House’s 10 Years of Hope Gala Dinner in February 2027, with the date due to be announced at the launch.
