Cavefish Wraps Up 10-Week TfW Lab Journey with Pitch Day at Techniquest
The sixth cohort of Transport for Wales’ innovation accelerator, the TfW Lab, concluded this week with a dynamic pitch day at Techniquest, Cardiff. Among the standout participants was fintech startup Cavefish, whose founder Jonathan Prescott shared reflections on the experience and celebrated a key team accolade.
After ten weeks of workshops, mentoring and product refinement, cohort members took to the stage to pitch their propositions to an audience of over 60 attendees. Hosted at the iconic science discovery centre, the event marked the culmination of a programme designed to stress-test assumptions and turn bold ideas into practical transport innovations.
Jonathan Prescott, founder of Cavefish, described the experience as “nerve-racking and brilliant in equal measure,” praising the generosity, openness, and sharp thinking of fellow cohort members and programme leaders alike.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the Spirit of the Programme award, which went to Steven Williams, a key member of the Cavefish team. The award recognises individuals who best embodied the collaborative and innovative ethos of the TfW Lab throughout the programme.
“It wasn’t just about the pitch—it was about digging deeper into how we turn ideas into real-world impact,” said Prescott in a
LinkedIn post reflecting on the day
The Cavefish team joined a wide cohort of startups and scaleups focused on solving real challenges across transport and mobility. The Lab is part of Transport for Wales’ commitment to innovation, supporting the Welsh Government’s broader ambition to back tech-led solutions in public services.
