Credas Launches New Payments Tool to Ease Compliance Costs in Property Sector
Cardiff-based RegTech innovator Credas Technologies has launched ‘Credas Payments’, a new tool that helps estate agents recover the rising costs of compliance by charging clients directly during the onboarding process.
As regulatory pressures intensify across the property and conveyancing sectors, estate agents are facing growing financial burdens tied to mandatory identity verification (IDV) and anti-money laundering (AML) checks. In response, Credas Technologies – a leader in ID verification solutions – has introduced Credas Payments, an integrated payment feature that enables firms to collect fees from clients at the point of verification.
Credas Payments eliminates the need for separate invoicing, payment chasing, and manual reconciliation by embedding the payment step directly within the compliance journey. The system supports all major card providers, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
With no setup required, estate agents can activate the feature instantly. Credas manages the entire process – from payment handling to tax compliance, refunds, and customer support – and issues a clear monthly rebate to participating firms.
“For too long, compliance has been seen purely as a cost centre. With Credas Payments, we’re helping firms turn the tide – recovering costs without disrupting the client experience,” said Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas. “By integrating payments directly into the verification process, we’re giving businesses a way to protect margins, maintain control, and ease the burden of compliance, all without extra admin or risk.”
The launch comes amid growing demand for innovative solutions in the face of increasing due diligence requirements and operational overheads. Mid-sized firms are reportedly spending over £70,000 annually on compliance activities, prompting a need for smarter, streamlined approaches.
Launched in 2016 and now part of Dye & Durham, Credas Technologies has verified more than four million individuals through its remote IDV platform. It was also the first Identity Service Provider certified to a ‘very high’ confidence level under the UK Government Trust Framework.
