Cardiff-Based Fintech Zero Scores Sponsorship Deal with Forest Green Rovers, the World’s Greenest Football Club

Zero, The Sustainable Money App founded and headquartered in Cardiff, has announced its official sponsorship of Forest Green Rovers’ shirt sleeves for the National League play-off game next week, marking a powerful alignment between two pioneers of sustainability.

Forest Green Rovers, globally recognised as the world’s greenest football club, continue to lead in environmental responsibility. The club was the first in the world to go fully vegan and recently partnered with Reloop, a circular fibre-to-fibre recycling initiative ensuring that football shirts are remanufactured rather than wasted.

Zero’s sponsorship reinforces a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. As one of Wales’ most exciting fintech ventures, Zero is empowering users to align their finances with their values. Founded by Cardiff-based fintech entrepreneur Richard Theo — the founder of ActiveQuote and co-founder of Wealthify — Zero offers digital accounts and a unique tool, GreenScore®, which simplifies carbon tracking across spending, providing actionable insights for reducing environmental impact.

“We’re so proud to support Forest Green Rovers and share their commitment to protecting the planet,” said Richard Theo, CEO of Zero. “Through our Community Share Option Scheme, we’re giving 20% of Zero’s future value back to our customers, and we’re delighted to invite FGR fans to join us on that journey, proving that money can be part of the climate solution.”

The partnership reflects growing public demand for greener financial solutions. According to Opinium research, 61% of UK adults believe banks should actively combat climate change, and 59% want their bank to use money for environmental good — yet less than half feel their current bank is doing enough.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do here at FGR, so it is crucial that we work with brands who align with our ambitions as a club and will be part of our journey. Money is an integral part of everyday life and yet there are few sustainable and ethical options; our partnership with Zero offers fans an insight into a more sustainable solution, to raise awareness and help fight climate change,” said Dale Vince, Chairman of Forest Green Rovers.

The partnership is set to expand with new initiatives planned for next season and beyond — shining a spotlight on the role Welsh fintech can play in driving global change.
