Welsh Green Fintech Zero Marks Six-Month Milestone with £1.1M in Payments and 12,000+ Users as Second Crowdfunding Campaign Launches
Cardiff-based sustainable fintech ZERO has launched its second crowdfunding campaign via the Crowdcube platform, celebrating a landmark six months since its public debut.
Since launching in February 2025, ZERO – a B Corp certified green money app – has attracted more than 12,000 users, processed £1.1 million in payments, and completed over 415,000 GreenScore® transactions. These transactions help customers better understand and reduce the environmental impact of their spending.
The Welsh fintech has also achieved several key milestones within its first six months, including:
- Becoming B Corp certified in July 2024
- Joining the Tech Zero coalition and publishing net zero targets
- Removing 110% of its 2024 operational carbon emissions
Richard Theo, co-founder and CEO of ZERO, commented:
“Our vision is a world where money is a force for the good of the planet, and never invested in activities that harm the planet. We’ve proved there’s strong demand for a green alternative in personal finance, and this next funding round will help us expand our reach and impact in the year ahead.”
ZERO’s second funding round is now live on Crowdcube. It follows the company’s 2023 seed round, which was backed by investors including the Development Bank of Wales.
As consumer demand for ESG-aligned financial solutions grows – fuelled by a global sustainable finance market valued in the trillions – ZERO is positioning itself at the forefront of the green fintech movement. The UK’s net-zero economy is expanding at three times the rate of the wider market, making initiatives like ZERO’s second Crowdcube raise a crucial moment in scaling the next generation of climate-conscious financial products.
