Cardiff Based Credas Partners with IDGO to Improve Digital ID Access Across the UK

Credas Technologies, a Fintech Wales member and leader in identity verification technology headquartered in Cardiff, has announced a strategic partnership with IDGO, a licensed PASS card issuer based in Southampton. The collaboration is set to transform access to secure identification for millions across the UK, with a particular focus on reaching those currently excluded by traditional ID systems.

Recent figures from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) show that nearly one million driving licences were lost in a single year. Additionally, around 3.5 million UK voters lack valid photo ID, an issue that has raised concerns among experts including the Electoral Reform Society, particularly in light of new mandatory voter ID laws. These identification gaps hinder participation in essential aspects of society such as voting, banking, and employment.

These challenges are felt most acutely by vulnerable groups, including the homeless and ex-offenders, who often lack access to traditional identification. As regulations evolve—particularly around age verification for online services—access to secure, affordable ID has become even more critical.

Through this partnership, IDGO will leverage Credas’s advanced, government-certified digital identity verification technology to issue reliable, PASS-accredited ID cards to those who need them most. Credas, which verifies over four million individuals annually, uses trusted data sources including the HALO database, Amberhill, and the electoral roll to ensure a high level of assurance and security.

Dannii Hadaway, Founder at IDGO, said:
“For too long, the lack of accessible and affordable identification has excluded people from fundamental aspects of life… Together, we are not just verifying identities; we are empowering people with the means to fully participate in society.”

Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas, added:
“Our partnership with IDGO is a significant step towards breaking down barriers to identification, ensuring that individuals can access essential services without unnecessary hurdles… we are driving positive change and making reliable identification more attainable for everyone in the UK.”

Looking ahead, IDGO is developing the UK’s first dual-sided smartcard, which will combine proof of ID with a contactless payment feature to support financial inclusion and streamline everyday transactions.
