Capalona – The Flintshire Fintech With a Bright Future

  • Blog

Based in Flintshire, North Wales, is one of the most established online business funding platforms in the UK. Owned and operated by Fintech technology business Sorodo Ltd, the platform empowers SME’s to quickly and easily find the right business funding product suitable for their needs.

It has long been an issue for business owners to find the best funding solution when there are so many finance products within the marketplace. “We had this problem in a previous business..”, explained Rich Wilcock, Co-founder of Fintech business Sorodo Ltd.

Based in Flintshire, North Wales, the trio (Simon Moorcroft, Jamie Moorcroft and Rich Wilcock) had previous business successes within the Fintech space – from forming startups to venture capital buyouts.  It was during one of their previous business ventures together that they found, like many other businesses, cash flow was tight and they needed to access funding quickly.

“Speaking to our high street bank seemed to be an incredibly slow process for us. The application was complex with lots of form filling. There wasn’t enough choice and we really didn’t know if the product was the right ‘fit’ for us.

It felt like we were stuck in the mud. As many business owners know, you need super-fast, affordable solutions that can be presented back to you quickly, without all the red tape.

The website Capalona was born out of this frustration.  We set out to create a funding platform and website that would help navigate the business funding maze quickly and effortlessly.  We created a single, simple-to-use online enquiry form, that identifies suitable matched business finance products from across the market.

By aligning parameters from each lender’s eligibility requirements, the platform filters the details obtained within the enquiry and matches the application to a suitable business funding solution.  Lenders are then able to provide a quote to the customer which they can compare and make an efficient decision.  The system is ideal when time is of the essence.  As we are ‘plugged in’ directly via API’s with lenders on the panel, we are able to turnaround decisions into fundable offers within minutes of a customer clicking on the ‘get a quote’ button.  This type of quick technology-led decision making has changed the brokerage landscape for good.

We have constantly improved on the platform, re-investing time into understanding the customer journey, updating the platform and keeping the website content fresh and relevant for the end-user.  We’ve recently added a customer portal that offers even more control, once an application has been made.  Lender updates, notifications, customer communications and offers – all within the Capalona experience.

There has never been a more important time for British businesses to be able to access the funding they need.  They can apply at any time to suit them, night or day – the platform is active seven days a week, 24 hours a day and caters for a range of business loan products such as:

Unsecured Business Loans
Secured Business Loans
Invoice Finance
Trade Finance
Revolving Credit Facility
Asset Finance
Tax Loans
Commercial Property FundingCommercial Bridging Loans
Merchant Cash Advance
Startup Business Loans

As the Capalona brand has grown in popularity across the UK we’ve also added money-saving offers for other business services such as Business Energy Comparison which is proving to be a great, additional product for our customers.

We are excited about the future for Sorodo Ltd and the Capalona brand. As we grow we will be looking to add local talent resources and work again with our local Universities in North Wales such as Wrexham Glyndwr University on further development to the team. Wales as a whole has many innovative companies emerging here – and quite a few re-locating here too.  It adds to the ever-growing ecosystem and network that Wales has to offer.  For more information and to see how Capalona could help your business grow please visit us at
