Atamis secures national contract to modernise procurement across UK police forces
BlueLight Commercial (BLC) has awarded the contract for a new National E-Commercial Solution for Policing to Atamis Ltd, marking a significant step in the modernisation of commercial capability across England and Wales.
The contract award forms part of the Police Efficiency and Collaboration Programme (PECP) and begins work to replace fragmented legacy systems with a single national platform to support procurement, contract management and commercial pipeline visibility.
According to the programme, the new solution is intended to address longstanding challenges across policing, including inconsistent processes, limited transparency and a lack of consolidated commercial data.
The future system will be designed to support both policing and the supplier community. For suppliers, it will become the principal national route to view, access and respond to policing commercial opportunities. Businesses of all sizes, including SMEs, are expected to benefit from clearer requirements, standardised processes and greater visibility of forward pipelines.
Most police forces across England and Wales are expected to transition to the new national solution. Some organisations, including the Metropolitan Police Service and the Welsh forces, will continue to publish tenders through existing government-mandated or nationally aligned platforms for statutory, devolved or operational reasons.
Policing said it will provide clear guidance to suppliers on where opportunities are published and will work to ensure transparency and ease of access across all channels.
For policing organisations, the solution is expected to create a more consistent commercial environment, enabling efficient, compliant and collaborative ways of working. Access to real-time commercial data, dashboards and automated workflows is also intended to support improved decision-making and reduce manual effort. Integration with the Government’s Central Digital Platform will ensure automated compliance with the Procurement Act 2023.
As development progresses, policing said it will work closely with industry partners, with supplier-focused communications and briefings to be issued ahead of onboarding.
Lianne Deeming, CEO, BlueLight Commercial, said:
“This contract award is a key milestone in policing’s journey towards a more modern, connected and collaborative commercial service. Strengthening national commercial capability is central to the wider transformation underway across policing. The new system will simplify how suppliers engage with forces and support better value and more consistent outcomes for the public.”
Helen Evans, CEO (Interim), Atamis Ltd, said:
“We are proud to partner with policing on such an important transformation programme. We look forward to developing a solution that supports more efficient procurement, improved data quality and stronger collaboration with suppliers.”
Atamis, a Cardiff-based FinTech Wales member, is now set to play a central role in delivering the new platform as the programme moves into its next phase.
