Anne Jessopp Reflects on 18 Years at The Royal Mint as She Announces Departure

Anne Jessopp, the first woman to lead The Royal Mint in its 1,100-year history, has announced that she will step down as Chief Executive after an 18-year career with the organisation.

Appointed Chief Executive and Deputy Master of the Mint in 2018, Anne will remain in post until the 2027–28 financial year. The Royal Mint said the process of appointing a successor will begin shortly.

Her departure comes as The Royal Mint prepares for the next phase of its transformation. During her time as Chief Executive, the organisation has adapted to the declining use of circulating coin and developed its businesses for a more sustainable future.

Reflecting on her decision, Anne said: “It has been a real privilege to lead The Royal Mint through such a significant period in its history. Over the past 8 years, we have transformed into a commercially focused organisation; adapting to the declining use of circulating coin and evolving our businesses for a more sustainable future.”

She added: “This has not been an easy decision but as we approach the next stage of our journey, it feels like the time is right for me personally to take on new transformation challenges and learn from new experiences.”

In a personal post on LinkedIn, Anne reflected on the opportunities, challenges, friendships and shared achievements of her time at The Royal Mint.

She said that becoming the first woman to lead the organisation was something she would always be proud of, but that she would treasure the people, shared achievements and memories most.

Chris Walton, Chair of the Board at The Royal Mint, said: “Anne Jessopp has successfully led The Royal Mint through a period of profound transformation. Her leadership has laid the basis for our future.”

He added: “I thank Anne for the dedication and service that she has displayed and I wish her well in her new endeavours.”
