Delio, a pioneering Welsh fintech platform enabling digitisation in private markets, is marking a major milestone as it approaches its tenth anniversary. Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Gareth Lewis recently reflected on the company’s journey, outlining how its original vision has remained consistent, even as the industry has evolved around it.
Founded with a mission to enhance the client experience in private markets through digital infrastructure, Delio has transformed from a simple concept into a sophisticated, modular operating system. Today, the firm supports a broad spectrum of financial institutions, including wealth advisors, private banks, asset managers, fund administrators, and ecosystem providers.
Reflecting on the company’s trajectory, Gareth Lewis noted:

Lewis also addressed broader trends across the private markets sector. While some competitors have exited or pivoted, and technology adoption remains inconsistent, Delio has maintained its focus on scalable infrastructure. According to Lewis, the market is now entering a “second wave” — one that emphasises tailored infrastructure over product access alone.
“To me it feels like we’re now seeing a second wave of focus in the market, where attention is shifting to building the pipes, plumbing and rails that will allow firms to tailor and personalise their private markets offering… then grow it efficiently and compliantly at scale,” he said.
