Save the date – Monday 31 st March 2025 – Banking in Welsh Communities
Event: To be held at Principality House, Cardiff
Time: 09:30am – 1.30pm (with a networking buffet available from 1.30-2.30pm).
Event overview:
Following a successful event last March a second event ‘Banking in Welsh Communities’ is being organised by Welsh Government in partnership with FinTech Wales and with the support of Principality Building Society. As you will be aware, changing customer practices and behaviours in an increasingly digital world continue to drive change in how banking services are delivered within Welsh communities. The loss of many bank branches has become a major cause of concern to many.
Drawing together stakeholders from across the financial sector alongside those with an active interest in banking service provision in our communities, this meeting aims to bring focus to conversations in a Welsh context.
What are the real problems?
Which solutions or approaches may help customers adapt to new delivery models?
Which groups are being disadvantaged?
What barriers exist to adaption and change?
Who has a role in overcoming those barriers?
How could Welsh Government and others best support solutions?
During the event you will have the opportunity to hear from our hosts, Principality Building Society, the FCA and LINK and to talk directly to businesses who are developing their online products to be as inclusive as possible. The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip, Jane Hutt MS, and the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Rebecca Evans MS are expected to attend and address the opening of the event.
A confirmed agenda and further details will be issued closer to the time. We do hope you can join us.
