Alacrity Foundation and Business in the Community Launch 2025 Christmas Present Drive to Support Newport Families
The Alacrity Foundation, in collaboration with Business in the Community, has launched its annual Christmas Present Drive for the third consecutive year, aiming to bring vital festive support to families across Newport.
With approximately one in three children in Newport living in poverty, the campaign seeks to address the stark reality faced by many families during the holiday season when food, warm clothing and gifts are often out of reach. According to the organisers, “around 1 in 3 children in Newport live in poverty, and many families go without food, pyjamas, or gifts at Christmas.”
Building on the momentum of previous years, the 2025 drive is aiming to raise £20,000. Thanks to match‑funding from the Big Give and the Scouloudi Foundation, every donation will be doubled, enabling supporters to make twice the impact. An exciting addition this year is that every £10 donated also enters supporters into a prize draw to win an overnight stay with dinner for two at the Celtic Manor Resort.
Impact from last year
- 448 brand new presents gifted to children
- 206 pairs of pyjamas donated
- Support for 7 local charities
- Over £7,000 raised
This year’s goal is to double that impact and reach even more families in need.
With just £4,000 left to raise and two weeks remaining to meet the match‑funding deadline, organisers are calling on individuals and businesses across Wales to get involved and help deliver a meaningful Christmas to children across Newport.
