Credas Appoints Neil Williams as CTO to Drive Technology Growth and Global Expansion

Credas Technologies, the UK leader in identity verification, has announced the appointment of Neil Williams as Chief Technology Officer, marking a significant step in the company’s strategic growth and international expansion.

Williams joins Credas from Sero, where he served as interim CTO. His career includes more than 20 years at BT Group in a range of senior technology roles, as well as leadership positions at Alcumus and ActiveQuote. At BT, Williams played a key role in establishing the company’s digital centre of excellence and led high-profile project launches including BT.com and BT Sport.

In his new role, Williams will oversee Credas’ technology roadmap, focusing on scaling operations to meet growing compliance demands in regulated industries worldwide.

“In my role at Credas, I’m focused on scaling our technology operations with a strong emphasis on governance and resilience. By leading a talented team and leveraging AI to enhance customer experiences, we’re driving innovation across our SaaS platform. This positions Credas for sustainable growth and continued success in an increasingly competitive landscape.”

Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas, welcomed the appointment:

“Neil’s experience in building technology with robust governance and resilience is exactly what we need as we enter the next phase of our growth. Our mission is to simplify compliance for customers in regulated industries, and Neil will play a vital role in ensuring our technology continues to deliver on that promise at scale.”

Outside of his role at Credas, Williams is an Ambassador at Velindre Cancer Centre, Credas’ core charity. The team is organising a charity football match in August, with proceeds going to the Centre.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth for Credas. Last month, the company launched the UK’s first Compliance Wallet — a reusable compliance solution designed to reduce friction in the homebuying process, eliminate repeat compliance checks, and combat rising fraud risks across regulated sectors.

On top of this, Credas has launched Credas Payments, designed to help firms charge clients directly for their compliance checks, seamlessly and securely, within the existing onboarding journey.

As the UK’s highest-rated IDV app, with over four million downloads, Credas continues to lead the way in digital identity verification.
